Brothers Georges, Armand, Paul, and Maurice Marciano moved from the South of France to California in the late 1970’s and they brought with them a sophisticated European flare to design with them. With the backing of the Nakash family, owners of the Jordache denim empire, they began building their business on "designer" jeans. Their name began to take off when Bloomingdale’s agreed to sell two dozen pairs of jeans, which sold out instantly. Their iconic black-and-white advertising campaigns began in 1982 featuring some of the most famous celebrities such as Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Laetitia Casta, Valeri Mazza, Alessandra Ambrosio, Carla Bruni and Sophia Loren. Guess celebrated its 25th year anniversary in 2006. Within this period, they launched several different brands including the original Guess?, Guess by Marciano, G by Guess, Baby Guess, Marciano for men, GC watch collection, Guess? Perfume and Guess Home. It continues to dress women according to Paul’s idea of perfection: “a strong personality but at the same time sensual and feminine”.
